I haven’t given any updates in a while and for that I am sorry. 2017 was a hard year for me without all the internship stuff let alone trying to learn how to manage my new responsibilities within the church. But in the spirit of a new year, I would like to give a bit of a recap of what has been going on at Karis Church in the last year.
In July, we helped Cole East Head Start with their Back to School event, where backpacks and school supplies were handed out to families in need, along with organizing some activities for the kiddos. This was the second year in a row we were blessed with the opportunity to serve in this event for the families of Jefferson City and we hope to have more opportunities in the future.
In September, we had a Sunday Morning Outreach gathering at Memorial Park with a picnic afterward. We are a church that aspires to be in the city, for the city and this is just one of the ways we have had the opportunity to reach out to the people of Jeff City.
Also in September we had a booth at Jeff City’s annual Multicultural Festival where we had free water available and a few activities available for attendees. Sadly this event ended up getting rained out pretty hard and we learned a few things about how we could better go about doing event’s like this in the future. Although our plans were hindered we at least had the opportunity to help other people pack up their booths which went greatly appreciated considering the crazy wind and rain.
In December we worshiped the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, with a Sunday morning Christmas Gathering and a Christmas Party afterward where we all had fun and made fools of ourselves singing Karaoke.
And to start our new year we have an upcoming Women’s event on Saturday, January 20th at 10:00 am, where the ladies will discussing the topic of Theology. Karis Church believes Theology is important to the daily lives of women. Theology is not just for scholars who spend years studying in seminary, but it is meant to be studied and applied in the daily grind of life. If anyone who reads this isn’t apart of Karis Church but is interested in this woman’s even feel free to contact me and I will get you in touch with the ladies at Karis church involved with this event.
There has been much to do as an Intern here at Karis Jeff City and there have been many hurdles I’ve had to jump in my first 6 months or this 2 year journey. I would like to thank all of you who have supported me in prayer and financially during this time, I would not have been able to even begin this endeavor in ministry let alone make it this far without your all’s love and kindness. I truly do not deserve the people our Loving father has put my life and I praise him often for your presence in my life. I love you all and I can’t wait to give you more updates on what Christ is doing in Jefferson City during 2018.
